GitHub Copilot writes boilerplate code. Figma AI converts designs to components. V0 and Cursor generate entire UI pages from a prompt. The person who builds a generic to-do app in React is not hireable in Germany's 2026 market.

The ML/AI engineers building Software 2.0 are in high demand (345 ML Engineer openings, €82k-92k top). The Data Engineers feeding Software 2.0 are in high demand (1,110 openings, HENSOLDT €92k). The DevOps engineers running Software 2.0 in production are in demand (674 openings, IABG €85k). The Cloud engineers scaling Software 2.0 infrastructure are in demand (1,630 openings). The SAP Consultants integrating AI into Software 1.0 enterprise systems are in demand (1,260 openings, 88/day). Who is NOT in demand: the person who writes the same CRUD boilerplate that Cursor now writes in 30 seconds.

The Gap — Why Indian Students Struggle to Get Hired

The GAP: Most Indian CS students learn the same Stack Overflow-driven full-stack curriculum — React frontend, Node/Java backend, SQL database. In 2019 that was enough. In 2026, every German company that needed that can use AI tools to build it faster without hiring a junior. The students arriving in Germany with a generic 'full-stack' label and no German are discovering there is no job waiting for them. The ones who specialize (SAP, Data Engineering, DevOps, ML Engineering, Embedded Software) and pair it with B2 German are getting hired within 3 months of graduation.

Bottom Line for This Field

Software in Germany is one of the largest job markets in Europe — but it brutally rewards specialization.
